The images within this gallery were in the main inspired by a collection of work by French Photographer Nicolas Evariste entitled Dark Zoo. The principals don't just lend themselves to captive animals, and in the right conditions, and some post processing can apply to wildlife in it's natural environment. | (Contains 56 photos)
Whilst photographing 'Monochrome Zoo', I constantly read all of the details provided in relation to the subject of the images. The more I read the more I became aware of just how vulnerable, or in some cases close to extinction some of these beautiful creatures were. The Monochrome Zoo project then extended to capturing various 'vulnerable' members of the Animal Kingdom, and this gallery depicts a range of these wonderful animals from the IUCN red list status 'Of Least Concern" through to those 'Critically Endangered'. It could just be, in the future, zoological parks may be the only places to see some of these wonderful animals. |

I have been fortunate enough to take several trips 'On Safari', the first two of which were in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. This is a small collection of images from the Kapama River Lodge and Timbavati private reserve from those first trips. | (Contains 34 photos)
This gallery contains predominantly monochrome images, including those of a more high key nature, which don't easily sit within the tight graphic constraints of 'Monochrome Zoo'. |

Approximately 6 years ago I had a 'Baldrick' moment and took on an Allotment (We already had three in the family). The general idea was to grow fruit and vegetables for a local charity, some 'unusual' or more 'exotic' vegetables the general plot holder may not consider, and of course the third element was photography. With all manner of pollinators and other insects which may visit, the project should prove ideal for macro photography. This gallery attempts to showcase some of fascinating wildlife encountered. | (Contains 115 photos)
I have long been a member of the Essex Wildlife Trust, never really taking advantage of visiting some of the fantastic reserves under their control. Recently I added the membership of the Suffolk Wildlife Trust and intend to join the RSPB. These images aim to showcase the wonderful diverse array of natural history which is very often on our doorstep. |

Kingfishers are small unmistakable bright blue and orange birds of slow moving or still water. They fly rapidly, low over water, and hunt fish from riverside perches, occasionally hovering above the water's surface. Kingfishers are amber listed because of their unfavourable conservation status in Europe. They are also listed as a Schedule 1 species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act offering them additional protection. (Credit - RSPB) |
