On Naxos, bout 10km inland is the village of Halki (or Chalki, or Kalki). This is the home of the Vallindras distillery used for Kitron production. Just on the edge of Chalki, about a ten minute walk from the distillery is the ancient Church of St George Diasoritis. It is a Byzantine church, built in the 11th century. Surrounding the church are a series of gnarled, seemingly weather weary trees, and on one particular tree trunk the patterns of growth looked like a pained face, calling out or screaming out against the harsh conditions or surroundings this particular tree seemed to be in. This image, Scream, reflects this portion of the trunk of the tree in this location.
